Cocaine Gang Jailed After £2.4M Drug Bust in Somerset

A cocaine gang jailed in Somerset has been sentenced to a combined total of over 60 years after police seized £2.4 million worth of drugs from a woman’s vehicle during an intelligence-led operation in Weston-super-Mare.

Rachael Beer, 47, was arrested in January after officers found 30 kilos of cocaine in the boot of her car. A search of her home uncovered a safe containing £34,000 in cash and a money counting machine. Further investigation led to the arrest of five co-conspirators: Devon Feltham, 32; Courtney Feltham, 24; Thomas Beasley, 35; Harry Dyer, 32; and Joel Powis, 36.

The group admitted to conspiring to supply cocaine and were sentenced at Taunton Crown Court on Monday. Sentences ranged from just over six years to nearly fifteen, with Judge Paul Cook describing the operation as “industrial scale” and involving “eye-watering quantities of drugs.”

Encrypted messaging apps were used to coordinate the smuggling ring’s activities between September 2023 and January 2024. Police estimate the gang moved approximately 170 kilograms of cocaine across the South West of England before their arrests.

Detective Chief Inspector Ben Lavender of Avon and Somerset Police praised the outcome, stating, “This investigation unravelled a multimillion-pound drugs operation supplying cocaine across the South West. The supply of drugs like cocaine causes upset and misery in our communities and leads to further crimes committed to support addictions.”

Beer, from Beach Road in Weston-super-Mare, was sentenced to nine years and seven months after admitting conspiracy to supply cocaine and possession of criminal property. Beasley, from Apple Tree Close in Norton Fitzwarren, received the longest sentence—14 years and seven months—for his role in the operation.

Devon Feltham, of Birch Grove in Chard, was sentenced to 12 years, while his co-defendant and relative, Courtney Feltham, was jailed for 10 years. Powis, from Brockley Crescent in Weston-super-Mare, was given six years and seven months.

Harry Dyer, of Cedern Avenue in Weston-super-Mare, was jailed for nine years and four months. In addition to the cocaine charges, he pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply ketamine, which police discovered during a garage search.

This cocaine gang jailed in Somerset marks another success for law enforcement in tackling large-scale drug distribution across regional UK communities. Avon and Somerset Police reaffirmed their commitment to disrupting drug networks and reducing harm caused by illicit substances.
