CBP Officers Seize $1.1M Worth of Methamphetamine in Brownsville

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Brownsville Port of Entry intercepted a shipment of suspected methamphetamine valued at over $1.1 million during a single enforcement operation.

โ€œThis notable methamphetamine seizure highlights the dedication of our officers to ensuring border security and showcases the effectiveness of CBP training, experience, and advanced technology,โ€ said Port Director Tater Ortiz, Brownsville Port of Entry.

The narcotics, with an estimated street value of approximately $1,111,137, were seized on November 19, 2024, at the Gateway International Bridge. The incident occurred when a 21-year-old female U.S. citizen attempted to enter the United States in a 2014 Nissan. Following a primary inspection, the vehicle was sent to secondary for further evaluation. Utilizing a canine unit and non-intrusive inspection (NII) technology, CBP officers uncovered 43 concealed packages inside the vehicle. These packages contained a total of 124.29 pounds of suspected methamphetamine.

CBP officers confiscated the narcotics along with the vehicle. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents arrested the driver and launched a criminal investigation.
